Field Trips

The WNPS is now listing all chapter field trips on their website. You can see them at http://wnps.org/chapter_info/chapter_trips.html. If you plan to attend, contact Jim Duemmel, e-mail j.duemmel@worldnet.att.net  or (360) 733-3448 to confirm your attendance

Guidelines
Field trips are not intended to be strenuous hikes, however they will be on the woodland paths in the area. Hikes may last several hours, but the pace is generally leisurely.

Paths may be slippery with wet leaves or clay. Good walking shoes should be worn, and a walking stick is useful, not only for the trails, but as a pointer.

Hikers are assumed to take responsibility for their own comfort and safety.

Field trips will normally be held, unless there is severe weather, or the trails are unsafe. Please dress for the weather.

The Chapter has adopted a policy for reimbursement to drivers on field trips. Passengers will pay drivers at the rate of $.05/mile rounded off to the nearest dollar, from the meeting place and return.

In summer we go to the mountains. Please remember to carry the ten essentials:
  1. Map.
  2. Compass.
  3. Light with spare
      bulb, batteries.
  4. Extra food.
  5. Extra clothing.
  6. Sunscreen and
      sunglasses.
  7. First aid
       supplies.
  8. Pocket knife.
  9. Matches in
      waterproof
      container.
  10. Fire starter.

If you want additional information on a particular walk, please check with Harold Mitchell, 293-0405.
