Salal Chapter - Native Plant Garden

Native Plant Garden

Tucked away in the lowland fields of the Skagit Valley is a labor of love and concern for native plants that manifests as an extensive and charming display garden. Created a 25 years ago as a collaboration between the Salal Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society and the Washington State University Agriculture Extension Agency at Mount Vernon (WSU), the Native Plant Garden is now a half-acre oasis that holds the seeds for the future of native plants in the lower Skagit Valley. Read more about the garden.

Directions
The Salal Native Plant Garden is located immediately south of the Master Gardener Display Garden at the WSU NW Research Center on Memorial Highway (16650 SR 536), west of Mount Vernon. Built by volunteers from the Salal Chapter of the WA Native Plant Society, the garden is a terrific resource for homeowners who want to learn how to incorporate more native plants into their landscaping.
